Why do people criticise the other political party, but then fail to see their own party's short comings?

The problem is that by having parties, you create a mob or gang mentality. My side is right no matter what. What really needs to happen is that people need to look at the issues independently, think about them and vote their conscious, not their party lines. If that happens, I hold out hope for this country recovering.
