Electrical Question on single pole light and 6 recessed lights?

I have the power coming into the first light, then to all the rest of the lights and it ends at the switch. I have tried several things and have not found one that works. The first light has the black connected to the white going to the next light and all of the white are wired together. Then the blacks jump from light wire to light wire. Then both the black and white go to the switch. This does not work for me, anyone got a suggestion? Wish I could draw a picture in here.
