How do dentists even off your teeth after braces?

im going to get my braces off soon and my top teeth meet at the top of the teeth but then the make a v shape and dont touch. my ortho said to go to the dentist and they can fix this in about 30 mins. im not sure what they mean or what theyll do so a little advice please?
